Duvets and quilts; what do they have in common? There are many similarities between these two items but there are some big differences as well. A duvet is a type of bedding that is designed to keep you warm and comfortable on those long winter nights. A quilt is basically the same thing. They were also designed as a way to stay warm and cozy just like the duvets.
Both duvets & quilts come in a variety of sizes, colors and designs. Some are created to be fashionable and enhance the existing décor of any home while others are mainly created exclusively for comfort. Some of the designs are made especially for children while others are created for adults. They’re made to fit everything from the twin bed to the king size bed. They’re made from cotton, silk and wool to name a few of the materials used. Some of them are lightweight while others are thick and heavy giving you a variety of options that can be used for any type of weather but this is where the similarities end.
It’s interesting to know that the duvet originated in France but they became so popular that they can now be found all across the globe. filling used in the duvet is made from the best quality available. Normally, the materials used in duvets are lightweight but they still provide all the warmth and comfort needed to stay comfortable all winter long. Duvets have become so popular throughout the years that duvet covers have even been designed to protect them and keep them clean.
The way the bedding is cared for is actually one of the main differences between duvets & quilts. Duvets can’t be washed because the filling is usually made from goose down, microfiber, Siberian and goose feathers. Washing could cause them to lose their shape, which will ultimately ruin the item. Quilts, on the other hand, are made from materials that can be washed whenever they need it. Although it is recommended that you follow the washing instructions for the best results.
When you’re searching for bedding to keep you warm and cozy either one of the two can provide you with plenty of comfort. The one that will be right for you and your family will depend on your personal preference and who will be using the bedding. Of course, you don’t have to limit yourself to just one or the other. There is no rule that says you can’t enjoy the comforts of both types of bedding. The hardest decision will be trying to choose between all the exciting designs available today.
